This is the generator I use in my solo OSE game to name orcs, goblins, and hobgoblins. Motchclaw, Lokug, Skraglurk, Golgob, Dedbane, Wolfeye, and Rangrop all came from here. Unlike my usual name generators, this one eschews ordered prefixes and suffixes, so you can combine the generated syllables in whatever order you like. The demi-humans in my game could’ve easily been named Clawmoth, Uglok, Lurkskrag, Gobgol, Baneded, Eyewolf, and Roprang if I had rolled differently or liked the sound of those better. If you want a single-syllable name (such as for a goblin chieftain like Bolg of the North or Grom the Paunch) you can do that too, although you might need to pick or re-roll a few times for results like “Eye” or “Moon”.

This generator was made by disassembling orc and goblin names from Tolkien, Warhammer Fantasy, and vermin characters from the Redwall series, filled in with sounds I thought were appropriate. The tone I was shooting for is on the lighter side, a little more The Hobbit than The Lord of the Rings.

Additional Generators

To further customize your band of orcs, consider the following generators. Gear gives you a general look, Motifs give you a symbol for shields, banners, and treasure, and Embellishments can be used to accentuate a leader. When an embellishment tells you to use a motif, you can use the band's motif or roll a new one.
